A quick guide to what to bring, where to go, and what to expect when you collect your car in Auckland or Christchurch.
We want you on the road as fast as possible. Most pickups take 10–15 minutes — bring the right documents and you'll be driving away in no time. This page covers exactly what you need.
Full driver's licence held for 12+ months (English or with an official translation / International Driving Permit). The credit or debit card used to make the booking, in the lead driver's name. Your Nomado booking confirmation number. Any additional drivers must be present with their own licence.
Auckland Airport (AKL): call the number on your booking confirmation once you've collected your bags. Our free transport will pick you up from the rental car pickup bay (signposted in the terminal) and take you to our Auckland depot at 19 Tironui Road, Takanini — about 15–20 minutes depending on time of day. Christchurch Airport (CHC): same drill — call us when you've collected bags, transport pickup from the rental pickup bay, then a short drive to our Christchurch depot at 305 Marshs Road, Hornby South. City / walk-in pickups: our Auckland depot is at 19 Tironui Road, Takanini 2112. Our Christchurch depot is at 305 Marshs Road, Hornby South. Addresses are on your confirmation.
Our team will run through the rental agreement, confirm your dates and any extras, and take your credit card details. Then we'll walk around the car together, note any existing marks on the inspection sheet, and hand over the keys. Take photos for your own records — we encourage it.
Keep your copy of the rental agreement in the car. Save our 24/7 roadside number in your phone. And remember — in NZ we drive on the left.
