A quick guide to what to bring, where to go, and what to expect when you collect your car in Auckland or Christchurch.
We want you on the road as fast as possible. Most pickups take 10–15 minutes — bring the right documents and you'll be driving away in no time. This page covers exactly what you need.
Every driver must bring their original full licence held for at least 12 months. Overseas drivers must also present their passport and, if required by New Zealand law, an approved English translation or International Driving Permit alongside the original licence. Bring the payment card used for the booking and your Nomado confirmation. Additional drivers must be approved and recorded before driving.
Free airport transport is included. Nomado will arrange the transport method and provide collection instructions before arrival. The journey to our Auckland depot at 19 Tironui Road, Takanini and our Christchurch depot at 305 Marshs Road, Hornby South is around 15–20 minutes from the relevant airport depending on traffic. We do not operate airport depots. Normal collection and return hours are 9am–5pm. Collections or returns between 7–9am or 5–7pm require advance arrangement and cost $50 per collection or return. Other times are subject to separate agreement, availability and an agreed fee.
Our team will run through the rental agreement, confirm your dates and any extras, and take your credit card details. Then we'll walk around the car together, note any existing marks on the inspection sheet, and hand over the keys. Take photos for your own records — we encourage it.
