Whether you call it car rental or car hire, Nomado makes exploring New Zealand refreshingly simple. We're a locally owned Kiwi business with depots in Auckland and Christchurch. Standard insurance, unlimited kilometres, approved additional drivers, normal New Zealand tolls, normal cleaning and mechanical roadside assistance are included. Optional and service charges are disclosed before booking or in the Rental Agreement.
Nomado operates from two depots: Auckland at 19 Tironui Road, Takanini, and Christchurch at 305 Marshs Road, Hornby South. We do not have airport depots; free transport connects each airport with its nearby depot, around 15–20 minutes away depending on traffic.
Every Nomado car hire in NZ includes standard insurance, unlimited kilometres, unlimited approved drivers, normal New Zealand toll road charges, normal cleaning, mechanical roadside assistance and GST. Optional extras and separately chargeable items are disclosed before booking or set out in the Rental Agreement.

Every vehicle is a late-model Japanese import, fully serviced between rentals, with auto transmission and great fuel economy.

Unlimited kilometres means you never have to second-guess that scenic detour, and one-way rentals between Auckland and Christchurch make North + South Island itineraries straightforward.
We're not a global franchise — we're a small Kiwi team with lean overheads and no airport-counter rent to recover. That means we can price our New Zealand car hire honestly and spend the savings on a better fleet and better customer service. A 20% deposit confirms your booking; cancellations made more than 30 days before pickup receive a full refund.

Our New Zealand car hire starts from $29/day for a small economy car and includes insurance, unlimited kilometres and unlimited additional drivers. SUVs and 7 seaters are priced from $49/day.
Yes, subject to availability and prior written agreement. Pick up in Auckland and return in Christchurch, or vice versa. The $250 one-way charge is disclosed before booking and the approved return depot is recorded in the Rental Agreement.
No. Every Nomado rental in New Zealand comes with unlimited kilometres and unlimited additional drivers at no extra cost — drive as far as you like, share the wheel as often as you like.
