Nomado's long-term rental rates are designed for working holidaymakers, contractors on assignment, families between homes, and anyone planning an extended NZ road trip. From 28 days onwards, prices drop significantly — often under $20 a day for a budget car, all-inclusive.
Working holiday visa holders touring NZ for 3–12 months. Contractors and consultants on a multi-month NZ posting. Retirees doing a long Kiwi summer. Families between rentals or relocating. Digital nomads basing themselves in Auckland or Christchurch.
Our long-term rate kicks in automatically at 28 days. The longer you book, the lower the daily rate — 3-month rentals get our best price. Pay 20% deposit at booking and the balance monthly, or pre-pay for an additional discount.
For rentals over 3 months we book the vehicle in for a free service at the halfway point. Need a vehicle change mid-rental (e.g. swap a budget car for a 7-seater when family visits)? Easy and at no extra cost.
Long-term rentals pick up from our Auckland depot (19 Tironui Road, Takanini) or Christchurch depot (305 Marshs Road, Hornby South), or via the complimentary airport transport (15–20 minutes from AKL, about 20 minutes from CHC). Working holidaymakers often start in Auckland and finish in Christchurch — a one-way monthly rental costs an extra $250.
Fuel is usually the second-biggest cost after the rental itself. At 10 L/100km and around $2.80/L for 91 petrol, 1,000 km a month is roughly $280. Our road trip cost calculator lets you model fuel, ferry crossings and one-way fees over your whole stay.

Yes — every Nomado rental, long or short, includes unlimited kilometres, standard insurance and unlimited additional drivers.
Yes — monthly hire is available from both depots and both airports. Auckland and Christchurch are our two locations, and one-way monthly rentals between them are possible for a $250 one-way fee.
Budget cars on our 28-day rate work out under $20/day, so roughly $560–$600 a month all-inclusive. Larger SUVs and 7-seaters are higher; peak summer rates are around 30% above shoulder season.
