Yes. You may take the car on a Cook Strait vehicle ferry, provided you comply with the ferry operator's requirements. Tell us about your route before collection.
Book directly with Interislander.co.nz or Bluebridge.co.nz. You'll enter your rental car's registration when you check in — we provide it at pickup. Book 4–6 weeks ahead in summer; a week ahead is usually fine in winter.
You book and pay the ferry fare directly. Check current fares with the operator. Weather can affect sailings; ferry disruption does not automatically entitle you to a rental refund or extension.
Nomado has depots only in Auckland and Christchurch. Do not leave the car in Wellington, Picton, Queenstown or anywhere else unless Nomado has agreed to that return location in writing.
